Dr. Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog

Dr. Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog. Sounds crazy, no? Almost like…a fiddler on the roof. No, wait, that’s something else.

I’d heard about this project a few months ago, but Xemu linked to the trailer a couple weeks ago, which got me fanboy-ing again. Dude, a musical written by Joss Whedon, following in the tradition of the Buffy musical, starring Neil Patrick Harris, who I’ve been a huge fan of since singing with him in Sweeney Todd, and adore in the TV show How I Met Your Mother. I don’t think I can take more awesome.

Also awesome – Joss came up with this during the writer’s strike because he was bored and couldn’t work on any real projects without breaking the strike. So this project is being distributed over the Internet. Actual positive consequences of the strike – who’da thunk?

If you’re not convinced by me, then check out TV Guide’s pre-release review, which was very positive.

Go watch act 1 right now (it was posted yesterday with some technical difficulties, but it seems to be fine now), and then watch acts 2 and 3 later this week. As of Sunday evening, they will all be taken down in advance of the eventual DVD release (which TV Guide says will have an all-singing commentary track!!), so watch this week or pay later.

P.S. While poking around the Internet in pursuit of more information about this project, I came across Felicia Day’s show The Guild, which is pretty entertaining. Felicia Day was one of the potentials in Season 7 of Buffy and is also in Dr. Horrible. The Guild is a set of webisodes written by Felicia about an online gaming guild dealing with real-life issues. Very entertaining if you’re a geek.
